CUSCO
The city of Cusco counts with three thousand years of life as populated center since much time before becoming the nucleus of andean world, denominated Sacred City founded approximately in the XI and XII Centuries A.D. (after Christ); by the Inca Manco Capac.
Cusco was the center of the Government of the four extenses regions of the Inca Empire that during its splendor the territory covered Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, north and center of Chile and northeast of Argentina.
The geographic environment that served as a frame to the Inca Culture was a bumpy territory, plunged in the hearth of the Andes, located between the Apurimac River and the Cordillera of Ausangate, it's composed by the Cordillera of Vilcabamba, situated in the central andes and part of the Cordillera of Ausangate.
The Incas built the city of Cusco among mountains at more than 3300 meters above sea level, of rainy weather during the months of Dec. to March and sunny between April and October with cold at mornings and nights in this epoch.
The name of Qosqo (quechua name) is enigmatic, its possible meaning could e “Navel of the World” or dry-dock (pantanosa) land. The inca society was an admirable example of political social organization, due to its knowledge in medicine, agriculture, architecture and hydraulic engineer canalizing the Huatanay and Tullumayu River a dry-dock was dried and great temples, buildings and real palaces were built, made with enormous blocks of heavy stones of perfect union.
